4 Word Club: Joseph

4 Words:  Joseph

Genesis 37:1-12 (Joseph & His Brothers)

Family:

·       Discussion: How many people live in your house? Name brother/sister/father/ mother/ uncle/ aunt/ nephew/ niece/ grandfather/ grandmother/ son/ daughter/ brother-in-law/sister-in-law/ in school language and home language.
(ADDITIONAL NOTE:  there might not be direct translations for terms for family from one language to another. For example, the English word "cousin" includes male and female cousins; Spanish has two separate words. Some languages have separate words for elder brother or senior sister and younger brother or junior sister; Dutch has no separate word for "nephew" and "male cousin" or "niece" and "female cousin." Pay attention to these differences. They point to cultural differences in family relationships.)

Colourful coat:

·       DG b4b variation Coloured pencils--teach the name of colours in both languages

·       Different texture: show different pieces of fabric and name words for the texture: smooth/ rough/ hairy/ knitted in both languages.
Take turns feeling the fabric and naming the color. Gently correct or ask the group to correct?

·       Handwork. Children draw a coat and color it. Or children get a coloring sheet and color the coat.

·       Color-coded. Go over the names of basic colors. Then play a running game or an instruction game. Give instructions like:  Everyone with red on, jump up and down.
Everyone with blue on, run to the other side of the room. Everyone with green on, sit down.
